These treaties include substantive and procedural rul…es to provide investment security and investment neutrality to foreign investor. In particular, most BITs have investor-state dispute settlement provision which allows investors to sue host states directly. Through analyzing the Turkish BIT experience, this study concludes that there are different approaches that utilized in various investor-state dispute settlement provisions. Thus, the wording of these provisions is important. Furthermore, the ICSID arbitration is mostly incorporated into BITs dispute settlement provisions since the ICSID arbitration has an effective system and different characteristics from other types of international commercial arbitration. This dissertation examines not only the main features of the ICSID, but also the recent amendments made to the ICSID arbitration rules. Finally, after analyzing the concluded and pending ICSID cases against Turkey regarding energy sector, this study concludes that the ICSID has an important role for the development of the international arbitration on investment disputes.

These characteristics were related to the innovativeness of the school district and the perception of individual leadership in schools tha…t have passed the performance criteria for state accreditation. Forty schools and 200 principals were randomly selected to participate in the study for a period of 3 to 4 months.The researcher used three instruments to determine whether differences existed between the two districts in regard to performance on the Standards of Learning assessments. He developed a checklist for interview questions on instructional technology strategies that might be implemented by leaders and teachers in the classroom. A Perceived Organizational Innovativeness Scale was used to measure the innovativeness of the school district, and an Individual Innovativeness Scale was used to measure the perception of individual leaders concerning the innovativeness of the school district.The findings indicated that organization innovativeness contributed to the innovativeness of individuals, such as leaders. Leaders categorized by innovativeness contributed to the overall structure of the organization by means of social networks with predictable human behavior in the organization. The passing of the Standards of Learning assessment and the schools' proven performance and accreditation status were clearly related to the behavioral patterns of individual and the social networks implemented by the leadership.

It was also established that the Law in Malta is neither being supported by the community nor strictly enforced.The study has reviewed the literature, which documented the importance, nature and extent of underage alcohol use in Malta. During the course of study, it was determined that young people are subjected to excessive pressure from school, parents, peers and/or other social reasons.The literature review has shown that if a person abuses alcohol, he or she might become an alcoholic. Whilst drinking may be seen as normative and socialised behaviour, binge drinking in young people is linked to risk-taking, sex, fights, accidental injuries, suicide, deaths and crime. The literature also revealed that the younger a person begins to drink, the greater the chance he or she will develop a problem with alcohol later in life.Based on the study being conducted, suggestions and recommendations are proposed on the wide range of strategies - from stricter enforcement of the Laws, relating to the sale of alcohol to minors; to prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and after-care.

Neuware - Despite the advent of second wave feminism in the late 1960s, it took more than twenty years before feminist literary criticism started to pay attention to the complex role of women Beat writers. Merely Being There Is Not Enough theorizes the memoirs of Diane di Prima, Joyce Johnson, Hettie J…ones, and Brenda Frazer, and analyzes their contributions to the Beat movement. Among the writings of female Beat authors, the memoir has become the most commonly used literary genre. At the height of the Beat movement, Frazer published Troia: Mexican Memoirs in 1969, the same year that saw the publication of di Prima's Memoirs of a Beatnik . Most female Beat voices, however, remained astonishingly silent until 1983, when Johnson published Minor Characters: A Young Woman's Coming of Age in the Beat Generation . Johnson's long-time friend Jones followed with How I Became Hettie Jones in 1990. The memoirs of Beat women chronicle the Beat-1950s and the intimate relationships with icons of the time: Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, LeRoi Jones/Amiri Baraka, and Ray Bremser. Being there at a crucial moment in history validates female Beats' stories as indispensable social documents of the 1950s. To make women Beat writers visible and to categorize their memoirs, this work immerses in the almost paradoxical project of defining a category of female Beat writing when it is the nature of Beat literature and its rebellious aesthetics to dismiss any kind of labeling. Women Beats unsettle the categories of Beat writing and culture: Therefore, a revision and re-examination of Beat history is inevitable to understand the movement's literary expression.

This dissertation concludes that many of the demand-absorbing Chinese private higher education institutions have managed serious efforts in linking private higher education to the labor market and some of them are even semi-elite in their job-oriented institutional efforts and initial employment outcomes.

The international legal framework of investment encompasses numerous binding or non-binding legal instruments, including customary international law, bilateral investment treaties, and…international organizations' decisions and resolutions. The rules established by the international legal framework become effective and significant when they are able to be adapted by appropriate and compatible domestic law frameworks. Through analyzing the Turkish foreign investment regulations and policies, this study concludes that there is a successful and complex interaction between international rules and domestic rules on FDI. Like many developing countries, since the 1980s Turkey has revamped its FDI regulations in response to changes and developments in international investment law. This interaction will reach its culmination, if there is a comprehensive multilateral agreement on investment. This dissertation examines failures of the OECD MAI draft treaty since there are lessons to be learned from the MAI negotiations. Thus, it makes some recommendations both in relation to the substance and the procedure for a possible future negotiation of multilateral investment agreement.
