Trade paperback. Zustand: Good. 256 pages. Mystery Chronology. Glossary. Bibliography. Index. About the Author. Signed on half-title. Cover has some wear and soiling. Ink check marks on author entries on several pages. Willetta Heising is the author of DETECTING WOMEN and DETECTING MEN, award-winning reader's guides for series mysteries. She has been moderating author panels and speaking to book groups since 1995 and is president of the Detroit Chapter of the Women's National Book Association. She blames her obsession with series fiction on the Stratemeyer Syndicate, which brought us the exploits of Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys and countless others. She shares her ancestry, a tendency to micromanage, and her October 4th birthday with Edward Stratemeyer. This is a book about detecting women. The women who write crime fiction of all types. Police procedurals, private eye novels and traditional mysteries--with protagonists from all walks of life in every period of history, with settings around the world. Their detectives are men and women, old and young, gay, straight, black, white, married, single, widowed, divorced. With and without families, children, parents, siblings and companion animals. In short, they're all of us--the women who write and read mysteries. We want to know who they are, where they came from, what issues concern them, how they got to where they are now and what has affected their lives. This work was developed to respond to these interests. First Edition [stated]. 1995 Edition [stated]. Presumed first printing. Wendy L. Everett (Cover Design) (illustrator). …
