Cuevas was a controversial but honored artist in Mexico, who was illustrating books and magazines before he was 15 years old. Cuevas was a painter, writer, draftsman, engraver, illustrator and printmaker. The drawings in this book are coeval with his being awarded, in 1959, the International First Prize for Drawing at the São Paulo Biennale, His artistic career spanned 70 years.

Paige, Sr., pioneered the concept of using proven ICBM reentry technology for the recovery of reconnaissance film capsules from space. He also recognized the requirement for the space-based camera to operate on a three-axis stabilized platform to obtain clear images and the need for a heat-shield for the capsule to survive the reentry into the earth s atmosphere. Mr. Paige s efforts made camera pointing and film recovery possible, convincing leadership that a film return system was a logical follow-on to the U-2. His work led to the physical recovery of imagery from over 100 Corona film buckets that provided intelligence critical to national security during the Cold War. This owner was none other than Francis Colemen Rosenberger, lawyer, member of the U.S. Senate legal staff, onetime president of the Federal Bar Association, and prolific poet in his own right, creator of seven books of published poetry. The book was an offering (No. 7) in a series entitled "Bronze Booklets", which looked at "the history, problems and cultural contributions of the Negro". Divided into two sections, Mr. Brown's book begins with an overview of the Negro in American poetry, presenting Early American Negro Poetry, Negro Folk Poetry, Paul Lewis Dunbar and Traditional Dialect, and The Romantic Tradition, Contemporary Negro Poetry, and a chapter on Whtie Poetry of Negro Life before 1914. Part two looks at Early Drama of Negro Life, Negro Folk Drama, and discusses Realistic and Problem Drama. Sterling Brown was a distinguished scholar, poet, theatrical director and dramaturge.
