Docketed with year and date of reply on reverse of second leaf, which also has the two newspaper cutting tipped in onto it. The first carries an entry on the family of 'LUCAN, EARL OF. (BINGHAM)', ending 'RICHARD, PRESENT AND SECOND EARL.' The other cutting, ffrom the Illustrated London News, is a biographical article headed 'MAJOR-GENERAL THE EARLOF LUCAN' and begins: 'IN this week's number of the ILLUSTRATED LONDON NEWS we present our readers with an admirable Portrait of Major-General the Earl of Lucan, appointed to command the cavalry division now in course of embarkation for the seat of war.'.…

Ngt senare svart halvskinnband med prydliga biblioteksmarkeringar från Kalmar stadsbibliotek (stämplar, hyllsigna, lånesticka och katalogkort i ficka) samt med några tidningsurklipp om Rudbeck i ett kuvert som fästs på främre spegeln. Främre blå otryckta omslaget medbundet, med Atterboms egenhändiga dedikation: "Till Hr Professor Beckman från hans vän Författaren". Prydliga rättelser i bläck på s. 83, 85-7, 100, 125, 178, 203, 208, 259, 271, & 333, synbarligen av Atterbom själv. Mottagaren var västgöten Anders Fredrik Beckman (1812-1894), som disputerat för Atterbom 1836 och utsetts till tf. professor i pastoralteologi vid Uppsala universitet 1847 och till professor i dogmatik och moralteologi 1851. Han var senare biskop i Härnösand, och i Skara från 1875. Stockholm, P. A. Norstedt & Söner, 1849 [-1851]. 8:o. Litograferat titelblad + 394 s. Sällsynt separatupplaga av denna uppsats, som även trycktes i del 23 & 24 av Svenska Akademiens handlingar ifrån 1796 (1850 & 1851, s. 314-580 + litogr. frontispis & s. 1-125). Särtrycksupplagan är naturligtvis också tryckt i två omgångar, och utgavs säkert som en helhet vid fullbordandet av handlingarnas del 24 (1851). Antagandet styrks av det bevarade blå främre omslaget och spår av ett identiskt bakre omslag i detta exemplar. En tryckt hänvisning på s. 271 dirigerar läsaren till "föregående delen, sid 501", vilket här rättats i bläck till "sid. 191", det korrekta sidnumret för särtrycksupplagan. "Atterboms [biografi] över Rudbeck [.] var den utförligaste och bästa avhandling i svensk lärdomshistoria, som då ännu författats, ett levande porträtt från svensk stormaktstid" (Bengt Hildebrand, "Biografisk historiografi och Svenskt Biografiskt Lexikon", PHT 40 (1939-40), s. 163).…

The poster is printed on one side of a piece of paper approximately 110 x 75 cm. Good, on lightly-aged paper. With its green printed wallet (21 x 28.5 cm), lightly worn and creased. Wallet covered in text, including the words 'NAPOLÉON FLORILÈGE' in large type. A curious piece of Napoleonic hagiography, with the text, consisting of a large number of unconnected effusions on his greatness ('Astre humain. Dieu terrestre'), in a variety of types and point sizes, arranged in six columns. Headed 'A SA GLORIFICATION', and with the word 'LUI' in large type above an illustration (18 x 25.5 cm) by Marcy of Napoleon's tomb at Les Invalides. Smaller illustrations of the Arc de Triomphe, of three crowns and a medal, with a fragment of the score of Beethoven's 'Eroica'. Long inscription in the same fervid tone, filling a panel 18.5 x 28 cm, by 'René de Vivie de Régie de l'Academie du Centre', to 'Jules Dechamps, Docteur en Philosophie et Lettres, Maîre de Conférences à l'East London College'. The twenty cuttings, in good condition on aged paper, are of articles written in the same vein, with titles such as 'Napoleon Multiple', 'Napoleon, Romain', 'Napoleon Grand Europeen'. One of the cuttings dated 1928 and another 1929. Another cutting ('Napoléon était-il Corse?') headed by a signed note by de Regie: 'Napoléon est au-dessus de ses origines ethniques. Il les dépasse.
