Comprising of 'Symposium' (1990) and 'Reality and Dreams' (1996). 'Symposium' was noted as one of the best novels of the year of its release by John Mortimer in The Sunday Times. The plot follows a dinner party and the events leading up to it regarding the lives of five couples attending. The story includes many flashbacks into the lives of the guests including a convent of Marxist nuns, a burglary ring, a mad Scottish uncle and unexplained deaths. 'Reality and Dreams' follows Tom Richards who fell from a crane whilst on the set of his latest film. Whilst in hospital a new director takes place and changes much of his work. This makes him angry and his life in hospital and his imaginative life through the films he directs, become intertwined. Muriel Spark was a prolific short story writer, poet and essayist. She received eight honorary doctorates in her lifetime and won many literary prizes. In original full cloth binding with original unclipped dustwrappers. Externally, excellent. First editions, in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original dust wrappers, most of which are unclipped. A collection of twelve novels by British novelist and short story writer, Francis King. In 2000, King was awarded the Golden PEN Award for a lifetime's distinguished service to literature, showing his great influence throughout his life.All novels apart from 'One is a Wanderer' are signed by the author to the title page. With a letter from the author loosely inserted to 'Punishments', writing to his friend, Edmund, asking "Do you recognise the drawing of my younger self on the jacket?" referring to the dust wrapper of 'Punishment'. King also asks when they will meet, as he would love to introduce his 'Little Angel' who has changed his life, then going on to describe his new partner. This collection is comprised of the following: 'The Last of the Pleasure Gardens' (1965). 'The Waves Behind the Boat' (1967). With a bookseller label of Foyles, London, to the front paste down.'The Brighton Belle and Other Stories' (1968).
