First edition of the poet's first book, 8vo, pp. xii, [3], 20-120; original stiff orange paper wrappers, cream paper shelfback, printed paper label on upper cover; spine rather cracked, front joint tender; good, or better. Crocker (1797-1861) was of a humble upbringing, and he worked as a shoemaker for twenty years, writing down verse in his idle hours. He subsequently worked in bookselling and was later sexton at Chichester Cathedral.
