Catalogue for the exhibition of the same name at Bard Graduate Center and Dulwich Picture Gallery in 2002, featuring 175 of the finest examples of decorative arts that were part of William Beckford's renowned collection. William Beckford, the wealthy British collector par excellence, was one the pioneers of collecting Asian and Islamic artwork and an avid connoisseur also of an eclectic mix of ancient, medieval and Renaissance art, as well as interesting objects from the seventeenth to nineteenth centuries. The text by a number of experts, includes biographical material on Beckford's life, travels and architectural projects including Fonthill Abbey, his Gothic Revival edifice in Wiltshire. Tiny closed tear to top right corner of jacket. The lower corners of the book lightly bumped, not affecting the inside pages. Completely clean. This monograph was prepared to accompany the exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum in New York from December 11, 2008 to April 12, 2009. Andrew Morrall and Melinda Watt edited the book and were curators for the exhibition. Illustrated mostly in color. Bibliography. 12" high X 10" wide, 308 pages.
