Sprache: Englisch Gewicht in Gramm: 220.

Trade paperback. Zustand: Good. Revised Edition, reprinted by CCRP. [4], iv, 273, [1] pages and Appendices (approximately 56 pages). Illustrations (Tables and Figures). References Acronyms. Cover has some wear and soiling. This is a product of the Department of Defense Command and Control Research Program. The Command and Control Research Program (CCRP) within the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (NII) focuses upon (1) improving both the state of the art and the state of the practice of command and control (C2) and (2) enhancing DoD's understanding of the national security implications of the Information Age. It provides "Out of the Box" thinking and explores ways to help DoD take full advantage of Information Age opportunities. The CCRP bridges the operational and technical communities and enhances the body of knowledge and research infrastructure needed for future progress. Dr. David S. Alberts is currently the Director of Research for OASD (NII) / DoD CIO. This major revision to the Code of Best Practice (COBP) for C2 Assessment is the product of a NATO Research and Technology Organization (RTO) sponsored Research Group (SAS-026). A symposium (SAS-039) was hosted by the NATO Consultation Command Control Agency (NC3A) that provided the venue for a rigorous peer review of the code. SAS-026 focused on a changed geopolitical context characterized by a shift from preoccupation with a war involving NATO and the Warsaw Pact to concern for a broad range of smaller military conflicts and Operations Other Than War (OOTW). This version also takes into account the impact of significantly improved information-related capabilities and their implications for reducing the fog and friction traditionally associated with conflict. In addition, SAS-026 was cognizant that NATO operations are likely to include coalitions of the willing that might involve Partnership for Peace (PfP) nations, other partners outside of NATO, international organizations, and NGOs.

Alberts is currently the Director of Research for OASD (NII) / DoD CIO. Network-centric warfare is a military doctrine or theory of war pioneered by the United States Department of Defense in the 1990s. It seeks to translate an information advantage into a competitive advantage through the robust computer networking of well informed geographically dispersed forces. The term "network-centric warfare" first appeared in the Department of Navy's publication, "Copernicus: C4ISR for the 21st Century." Network-centric warfare first appeared publicly in a 1998 US Naval Institute Proceedings article by Vice Admiral Cebrowski and John Garstka. The first complete articulation of the idea was contained in Network Centric Warfare : Developing and Leveraging Information Superiority by David S. Alberts, John Garstka and Frederick Stein. This book derived a new theory of warfare from a series of case studies on how business was using information and communication technologies to improve situation analysis, accurately control inventory and production, as well as monitor customer relations.
