Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Volume Four in the De-colonising the Biblical Narrative Series is dedicated to those First Nations Australia peoples who were encouraged who were informed by invading colonists, that Australia or other lands, was The Promised Land for the colonials, like the Land of Canaan, colonised by Joshua, in the name of the Colonial God YHWH whose merciless techniques, are outlined, by a Colonial Narrator in the Book of Joshua. The true message of The Book of Joshua has long been hidden. In Sunday School, in church sermons, in seminaries or in most interpretations of this book, Joshua has been viewed as a hero of a great God who enabled his people to escape from Egypt and to settle in the Promised Land. The colourful Crossing of the Jordan, the spectacular Fall of Jericho and the Sun Standing Still were viewed as amazing portraits of how the God of Israel enabled Israel to enjoy entering The Promised Land. There is only one way First Nations people can interpret Joshua but from a colonising point of view, as it is clear the colonial God favours one race of people over that of another. Colonists have over the centuries used the Book of Joshua as the bases for their justification to invade, colonise, steal lands, massacre First Nations people and enslave them.

Neuware - Different perspectives on the remarkable life of an anti-apartheid activist who was preciously a 'key-leader' of the tertiary based Catholic student movement in South Africa, Kallie Hanekom, are in this presented in this volume by family members and leading figures in the struggle against Apartheid. Fr Mike Lapsley SSM, an activist who lost his hands in a letter-bomb attack, presents a heartfelt tribute to a brother Christian. Fr Mike Deeb OP gives an appreciative account of working against the Apartheid regime with Kallie over many years, in groups inspired by the Theology of Liberation and the See- Judge-Act Method. Dr Mavuso Msimang, one of the great leaders of the ANC over many years, brings his extensive experience to bear on Kallie's life within a movement which has changed drastically from revolutionary activism to a government in power. Richard Crowe presents an overview of his friendship with Kallie from student days to their elder years. Richard presents a new understanding of Africa as the first great spiritual culture in world history. Africa, as the cradle of all human spirituality and culture, foreshadowed and informed all succeeding world religions and their cultures. Kallie opposed the evils of Apartheid over many years. He was a builder of human connections that transcended all notions of race or class. This publication celebrates his unique gift for crossing ideological and racial barriers to connect with his fellow human beings in a non-judgemental and egalitarian way.
Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Person in Christ is the third in a series revealing a new understanding of 'Person'. Previously published were the first two Person in Cosmos (1996) and Person in Analysis (1996) but he left this manuscript, Person in Christ, unpublished and is now posthumously being published. The first two books were the result of thirty years of teaching in North America, and complementary studies in psychoanalytic philosophy and in theoretical physics. Kevin had an increasing conviction that 'person 'was at the heart of relationship, and should be at the centre of theology', writes Patrick Corbett CSsR in the Foreword to the book. Kevin wrote of the trilogy: 'The three together form an integral study of the meaning of person, personal relationships and personal communication. They work from a creative retrieval of the metaphysics of Aquinas. Person in Cosmos begins a dialogue between this metaphysics and contemporary cosmology, especially in the discipline of physics. Person in Analysis continues this work with a dialogue between the same metaphysics and contemporary psychology especially in the discipline of psychoanalysis. Person in Christ will take the project further, with a dialogue between metaphysics, already refined by the two previous dialogues, and biblical studies of Jesus Christ, especially in the discipline of history of the early first century in Palestine. There is much to be learned about personhood here, not simply in its cultural manifestation at that time but in itself. Person in Christ is an attempt to make use of a retrieved metaphysics, in a contemporary context, as a tool for systematic Christology. It has a contribution to make to biblical and historical studies of Jesus, to systematic and speculative studies of Christ, and to an integral and philosophical study of personhood itself. Although it is the study of a particular person, it is also the study of personhood itself. The personal life of Jesus has demonstrated a new and original way of living personally. After Jesus, personhood cannot be the same.
