In the "60th Anniversary" theme, there is a historical survey of the ASC and an additonal article about the history of its distinctive Hollywood clubhouse. Finally, there are articles about the shooting of two documentaries: ROCKY MOUNTAIN REUNION, an ABC-TV special starring John Denver, and THE CHESSIE STEAM SPECIAL, a filmed celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad. [covers moderately rubbed, a bit of scarring and paper remnants on rear cover (probably from removal of subscriber's mailing label), light soiling to rear cover]. (B&W & color photographs, ads) Monthly magazine of the American Society of Cinematographers, a very technically-oriented publication with plenty of information (articles and advertisements) related to the latest equipment, technical processes and production techniques then in use in the Hollywood motion picture industry. Virtually the entirety of this issue is devoted to the production of the film CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND, with the magazine's usual "behind the scenes" feature accompanied by articles by cinematographer Vilmos Zsigmond, production designer Joe Alves, supervising sound editor Frank Warner, producers Julia and Michael Phillips, director Steven Spielberg (writing about the production's "unsung heroes"), visual effects supervisor Douglas Trumbull. There's also a lengthy interview with Spielberg, and all of this material is of course profusely illustrated. One of the more sought-after and collectable issues of A.C. (We have numerous other issues of this and other film-related periodicals that are not listed online; please inquire if you have particular needs or wants.).…

In den WarenkorbMagazine. Zustand: Very Good+. [each of the three issues is in VG+ or better condition; one has a subscription address label on the rear cover, another some remnants of a removed label]. A three-part series on the early history of Hollywood studios by one of its most erstwhile chroniclers, featuring dozens of rare photos of studio plants and personnel. Each article is briefly INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author on its first page, and one of the articles includes a few emendations and corrections in the author's hand; the inscriptions are to another distinguished film historian, Rudy Behlmer, from whose estate these were acquired. The series is contained in three consecutive issues of American Cinematographer magazine, each of which of course is jam-packed with other articles and features of interest, notably: an article on the filming of Stanley Kubrick's BARRY LYNDON, and multiple articles on film production in Hungary (the March 1976 issue); numerous features on the filming of the 1976 Winter Olympics (April 1976); several articles on the filming of ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN, and coverage of that year's Oscar nominees and winners for cinematography (May 1976).
