A collection of verse by Haines who is described in the introduction by W. H. Overs, Fifth Missionary Bishop of Liberia, as "a pioneer in its field. The author spent more than three years in Africa, and had opportunities to observe tribal life. Mr. Haines described, in verse, what he has seen and experienced. His poems picture the continental bigness, the urge of African life, and the romance of the white man's relation with primitive people.".
