Paperback. Zustand: Good. EMP: Equipping Modern Patriots is a harrowing story of survival following the destruction of the electric grid and nearly every electronic device in the country. Can you imagine a world with no phones, no TV, no internet, and no way to access your bank account? Without the electric grid, there would be no lights, no heating or air conditioning in your house, no public water, and the sewer would likely back up into your home. Without modern vehicles or interstate trucking, the supermarkets would quickly run out of food and supplies. Unprepared, the government would be helpless to feed the masses and maintain order. Our humanity is questioned when survival of the fittest becomes reality. Jonathan Hollerman paints a vivid and disturbing picture of society falling apart after an Electromagnetic Pulse attack against our nation. This is not only a thrilling story, but offers practical life-saving advice for an imminent threat. If you enjoyed Patriots by James Wesley Rawles or One Second After by William Forstchen, then you will enjoy this story of survival. ** 2nd Edition (Jan 8, 2014) has been professionally edited.…

Paperback. Zustand: Fair. In the riveting sequel to the Amazon Top Ten Bestseller, EMP: Equipping Modern Patriots- A Story of Survival, Jonathan Hollerman masterfully paints a realistic world of chaos and despair and an incredible will to survive in the aftermath of a nationwide, long-term, grid down scenario. When the retreat where Sean and Maria reside suddenly grows exponentially, they must make tough decisions on splitting up and dividing their resources. Unknowingly, this leaves them vulnerable to a new, much larger threat that looms nearby. The devastation of America is also revealed through the eyes of a new character, Lt. Col. Bruce Harris, Commander, 31st Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division. Colonel Harris is tasked with restoring electricity to the small town of Warren, PA, reestablishing order to the area, and tracking down a rogue platoon of Army Rangers that are reportedly pillaging the countryside. All is not as it seems though, and his orders will have life-changing consequences that leave him questioning where his true loyalty lies.…

In den WarenkorbNo Binding. Zustand: Very Good. B/w photo 150x203mm with the contemporary looking ink stamp of S.M. Sayed, Photographer, Abadan, to the back. Very good with short edge tears. Extremely rare, not recorded at the BP Archive, and no other records found. This is a scaled down photo reproduction of a very ornately designed APOC Calendar for 1926, elaborately bordered with multiple captioned images. The purpose for reproduction is not clear, possibly for wider circulation or done privately. A cartouche centred to the lower border states "With the kind permission of the Management / Drawn by R.N. Misra, Draughtsman, Abadan", who may have been employed at APOC, though no other records have been found. The central section features prominent oval portraits of APOC's first Chair Lord Strathcona and co-founder and incumbent Chair Sir Charles Greenway Bt, along with photos of Britannic House, the Chairman's Room, Boardroom, Head Office Mohammerah, 2 views of oilfields, 2 views of Abadan Refinery, "the famous oil well", pipe lines to Abadan, and elaborate APOC monogram. The border features 19 further uncaptioned images of oil installations and shipping.…

In den WarenkorbSoft cover. Zustand: Very Good. Original printed wraps 14x22cm. (11)pp printed in black and red. Very good, lightly creased, with small stain to front wrap. The staples have corroded, so sections are now loose. This was presented at APOC's 23rd Ordinary General Meeting at River Plate House, Finsbury Circus, London, on 17 June 1932. It includes a notice and Directors' Report by John Clark, Secretary, on behalf of the Board, and financial statements signed off by John Cadman (Chair), George L. Barstow (Director), and APOC's auditors Brown, Fleming and Murray, all dated 4 June 1932. Clark notes that production at Masjid-i-Sulaiman and Haft Kel is proceeding smoothly, new infrastructure at Abadan is coming into operation, the tanker fleet is running exceptionally well, and sales have been well maintained, but profits have nevertheless dipped due to very low oil prices. The Balance Sheet shows APOC's book value fell from £49m at end-1930 to £47m at end 1931. Of this, 7m was accounted for by its concessions, land, refineries, tank installations, pipelines and buildings, and 27m by investments in its subsidiaries, allied and other companies. Profits after dividends fell from 2.9m to 2.2m. What this doesn't go into, is that tensions were coming to a head with the Persian Government at this time. Persia had been seeking to revisit the d'Arcy Agreement terms to obtain 25% of APOC's shares, and seek clarity on APOC's profits which were clouded by transactions between it and its subsidiaries. The fall in oil prices due to over supply alluded to in the report and the Great Depression reduced the royalty APOC paid to the Iranian Government by a significantly greater proportion than the fall in APOC's profits (the royalty here estimated at a meagre £134,750). This confirmed Persian suspicions that APOC was acting in bad faith, and in 1931 demanded a return to negotiations. In 1932 Reza Shah Pahlavi stepped in, threatening to cancel the concession, which led the British Government to escalate the matter to the Permanent Court of International Justice in the Hague on the grounds of protecting the company, in which it held a 51% stake. Further negotiation led to a new agreement in 1933.…

In den WarenkorbSoft cover. Zustand: Near Fine. Original cord and staple-bound gilt titled green textured wraps 19x25cm. 27, (1)pp with several b/w photos and a map. Near fine, with a light diagonal crease. Although not stated as such, this very rare attractively produced promotional work uses images from a 1925 film of the same name "The Persian Oil Industry - The Story of a Great National Enterprise" made for APOC by the Topical Press Agency, London (reference: BP Video Library). Going into more textual detail than the film, it presents a history since the D'Arcy Concession was awarded in 1901, describing the main Masjid-i-Sulaiman fields, the Abadan Refinery and the pipeline connecting them, processes, staff welfare, medical and education services, transport, financial benefits to Persia, with a positive outlook. The map locates APOC's operations including the pipeline route. A fine captioned frontis portrait of His Imperial Majesty Reza Shah Pahlavi acknowledges his interest in APOC's work, and his visit in Dec 1924, and a photo shows him at the oilfields in conversation with APOC officials (p26). Among photos of local people are the Company's Fire Guards, Traffic Control officers, pipeline layers, derrick builders, other oil workers, road builders, students and schoolchildren. Also shown are panoramic views, infrastructure including bridges roads and shipping, office buildings, living quarters and staff facilities, oil installations and equipment being built or in action, etc. Worldcat and Library Hub locate only 2 printed copies at SOAS and the National Trust, with a microform copy at NYPL.…
