Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - What is posthumanist subjectivity Which institutions, historical events, and philosophies continue to define its cultural coordinates And how can we move towards new Posthumanism(R)(TM) approaches which disinherit the cultural strictures from continental philosophy and western art practices that subliminally privilege a very specific conception of the Human as universal human The reconfiguration of methodologies, approaches, and optics demanded by this new ontological turn situates art as the most productive multidisciplinary forum by which to address the truly universal challenges posed by the Anthropocene.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - This issue of Antennae, and the next, are informed by the exhibition Making Nature: How We See Animals the exhibition curated by Honor Beddard at Wellcome Collection in London between the 1st of December 2016 and the 21st of May 2017. This first installment, Making Nature, which takes its title from the exhibition, looks at the construction of nature as a cultural pursuit during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. It focuses on issues of visibility and invisibility, both cultural and ecological, to critically appraise the methodological approaches that have defined the philosophies of the discipline. Technologies of visibility like taxidermy, dioramas, macro-photography, and illustration are juxtaposed to highlight the complicity of art and science in the production of fictional narratives about the world we live in.
Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - The interface emerges as an agentially charged field-it reveals itself as a productive material dimension through which our thinking, questions, and assumptions are formed, mapped, shaped, and tested. From this perspective, the interface manifests itself as an artistic material-surface-a creative and reactive field through which we modulate the bandwidth of a perceptual gap-the poetic and philosophical distance between us and the actants and systems we study. Because of its inherent agential potential, the interface is also prone to become an ethical battlefield. Strindberg constructed his own pinhole cameras because, in his view, lenses distorted the world.
Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - This issue of 'Antennae' explores the rise of interest in art and science collaborations. Partly because of the resonance of the posthuman cyborg in the ontological turn; because of the rise of Bio Art; because of the prominence that multidisciplinarity has acquired in academia; and surely in light of our fraught relationship with our environment and climate change, the intersections between art and science have recently become more complexly de ned by new ethical, political, aesthetic, and poetic registers. This project is co-edited in collaboration with American artist and philosopher Jonathon Keats whose bold experiments have raise serious questions and put into practice his conviction that the world needs more 'curious amateurs,' willing to explore publicly whatever intrigues them in de ance of a culture that increasingly forecloses on wonder and silos knowledge into narrowly defined areas of expertise.

In collaboration with the soil, this process of coauthoring results in open ended narratives that emerge and dissolve, leaving behind traces of minerals and decomposing matter.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Highly concerned with the relentless erasure of queer behaviours operated by science and natural history, Queer Ecologies focuses on the relentless deconstruction of the conception of 'nature' as formulated in Western culture; it challenges the dualistic ways of thinking that separates nature from culture, and human from other earthlings. Ultimately, it critiques heteronormative constructs of nature and sexuality as not only socially divisive but also ecologically damaging. This issue of Antennae, titled 'Queering Nature', is the second part of a diptych in which creative thinkers from different disciplines embrace the task of sketching out and following new queer futurities that know no boundaries and separations.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Antennae-Earthly Observatory explores how we sense, portray, and engage our deep planetary entanglements. Through crafted visions, close listening, and histories of conquest and protest, the exhibition examines the contested relations of ecology to economy, aesthetics to ethics that dominate our experience at one moment, and evades awareness in the next. Drawn from diverse practices across art, design, and the natural sciences, the works invite us to question the ways that we-as one among many earthlings-create our understanding of a manifold world.¿This issue of Antennae, which completes the 'earthly tryptic' project of 2023, is a companion to the exhibition Earthly Observatory held at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago between August 30th and December 3rd, 2021 curated by Giovanni Aloi and Andrew S. Yang. It features the work of every artist as well as the transcript of three panel discussions and a curatorial conversation. Earthly Observatory would not have been possible without the support of SAIC Galleries and the tireless commitment of its dedicated and professional staff.
Buch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Since 2007, Antennae: The Journal of Nature in Visual Culture has been the international reference point of the non-human turn in the visual arts. This volume gathers the richest interviews and the most thought-provoking essays featured over its forty installments thus far published -- it captures the first ten years of a truly historic moment in contemporary art and philosophical thinking. The non-human turn, which has so pronouncedly characterized the cultural discourses of the new millennium, is most definitely going to shape the course of our troubled future with the planet. Featuring the voices and work of some of the most influential artists and scholars involved in the subject of the non-human and visual cultures, this collection is an unorthodox reference point, a verbatim account of the main ideas and movements, and an archive of original documents indispensable to tracing the intersections and origins of anthropogenic discourses.
