Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - The final installment in Barry Smolin's trilogy The Miranda Complex finds Lance Atlas, as he has been all along, splayed on the grass at the La Brea Tar Pits, summer of '79, in the aftermath of the previous night's party where he encountered Miranda Savitch for the first time since graduation. In this volume, centered mainly in 1977 & 1978, Lance tries to remember what he spent the night before remembering, something about a Grateful Dead show at the Shrine Auditorium, his friend's marriage to their teacher, AP English class, an unusual dinner party, heart troubles, the prom, and, of course, the ongoing bundle of torn attentions that makes him so confusing to the human female. When the saga comes to a close, Lance is finally utterly present just as the story catches up with itself. The rest is now.…

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - In Volume 2 of Barry Smolin's trilogy The Miranda Complex, Lance Atlas is still sitting at the La Brea Tar Pits midway through the summer of 1979 after having run into Miranda Savitch at a party the night before. Los Angeles is once again the backdrop and the musical soundtrack is vintage cool-nerd. This time 'round, Lance is willing to lose it all, himself included. New friends and old flames abound as does a very seductive oblivion. His muses point the way upward.…

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Volume 1 of Barry Smolin's trilogy The Miranda Complex follows the digressive mind of 18-year-old Lance Atlas as he sits at the La Brea Tar Pits, midway through the summer of 1979, after having run into Miranda Savitch at a party the night before. The encounter provokes a swirl of kaleidoscopic memories, both sacred and profane, set against a cultural backdrop that includes an adolescent-eye view of the politics, film, literature, and, especially, music of the era, as well as a mythic rendering of Los Angeles in the 1970s. By turns raunchy and awkward and neurotic, Lance's narration chronicles the years 1972-1976 with promises of many more memorable angsty teenage escapades to come.…
