As the book progresses the timid child becomes braver and the father more sensitive. Hard to imagine as a children's book, yet the inscription reads, "Master Lionel Tennyson. With love and best wishes from His dear Old Nana S. F. His eighth birthday, Nov-ber 7th 1897" and it was apparently read and reread. (Lionel Hallam Tennyson, 3rd Baron Tennyson (1889 to 1951) was the grandson of the poet. He became a famous cricketer and a humorous writer. A treasure. They bought and established domiciles in old noble mansions around Kongens Nytorv, where they worked in the art industry together with the leading architects of the time, and they participated in the major world exhibitions. Their history of development and changes in design and production form from craft to industry reflects the ideological and market-oriented forces of the time.
