The death of Andrew's father prompted the Andrew, his wife Jennifer and their children to move to the Northhampton district in the Mid West Region of Western Australia. Andrew Thomas joined the Liberal Party of Australia and became a Federal Senator for Western Australia in 1975. After eight years serving as a Senator in the Federal Parliament, Andrew Murray retired to Mandurah with his wife. Here he entered the workforce again as a contract cabinet maker. In this book, Andrew Thomas provides reminiscences of the farming and stud breeding families around Clare and Northhampton.
