Slight tears to the corners of the crown, and the spine uniformly faded, very good, lacking the dustwrapper. Inscribed by the author: "Ragnar Nurkse from Herbert Read. Edinburgh, 1932." Nurske (1907-1959) was a prominent economist at Columbia University whose works on international economics were very influential in the middle of the century. Today he is primarily noted for his attention to developing nations and his theory of a "vicious cycle of poverty" that prevents economic growth.
