Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - This volume contains the contributed papers and invited talks presented at the 1stInternationalWorkshoponAlgorithmicAspectsofWirelessSensorNetworks (ALGOSENSORS 2004), which was held July 16, 2004, in Turku, Finland, - located with the 31st International Colloquium on Automata, Languages, and Programming (ICALP 2004). Wireless ad hoc sensor networks have become a very important research subject due to their potential to provide diverse services in numerous appli- tions. The realization of sensor networks requires intensive technical research and development e orts, especially in power-aware scalable wireless ad hoc c- munications protocols, due to their unusual application requirements and severe constraints. On the other hand, a solid theoretical background seems necessary for sensor networks to achieve their full potential. It is an algorithmic challenge to achieve e cient and robust realizations of such large, highly dynamic, complex, n- conventional networking environments. Features, including the huge number of sensor devices involved, the severe power, computational and memory limi- tions, their dense deployment and frequent failures, pose new design, analysis and implementation challenges. This event is intended to provide a forum for researchers and practitioners to present their contributions related to all aspects of wireless sensor networks. Topics of interest for ALGOSENSORS 2004 were: - Modeling of speci c sensor networks. - Methods for ad hoc deployment. - Algorithms for sensor localization and tracking of mobile users. - Dynamic sensor networks. - Hierarchical clustering architectures. - Attribute-based named networks. - Routing: implosion issues and resource management. - Communication protocols. - Media access control in sensornetworks. - Simulators for sensor networks.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - WithgreatpleasurewewelcomedtheattendeestoEWSN2004,the1stEuropean Workshop on Wireless Sensor Networks, held in the exciting and lively city of Berlin. Wireless sensor networks are a key technology for new ways of interaction betweencomputersandthephysicalenvironmentwhichsurroundsus.Compared to traditional networking technologies, wireless sensor networks are faced with a rather unique mix of challenges: scalability, energy e ciency, self-con guration, constrainedcomputationandmemoryresourcesinindividualnodes,data-cent- city, and interaction with the physical environment, to name but a few. The goal of this workshop is to create a forum for presenting new results in the ourishing eld of wireless sensor networks. By bringing together academia and industry we hope to stimulate new opportunities for collaborations. In compiling the scienti c program we have been quite selective. Thanks to the e orts of 90 reviewers who delivered 252 reviews for the 76 papers originally submitted from all over the world, a strong selection of the 24 best contributions was made possible. The Technical Program Committee created an outstanding program covering the broad scope of this highly interdisciplinary eld: from distributed signal processing through networking and middleware issues to - plication experience. Running such a workshop requires dedication and much work from many people. We want to thank in particular Petra Hutt, Irene Ostertag and Heike Klemz for their valuable and esteemed help in the local organization of this workshop. We hope that you enjoy this volume, and if you were lucky enough to - tend we hope that you enjoyed the discussions with colleagues working in this fascinating area.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - The IFIP Working Group 6. 8 Mobile and Wireless Communications has a long tradition on addressing and grouping researchers and practitioners working on various mobile and wireless communications technologies and services. Due to the promising and exciting applications enabled by the development of Wireless Sensor and Actor Networks (WSAN), the IFIP WG 6. 8 had decided to launch a new series of conferences on this exciting new technology. The 1st WSAN was held in Albacete, Spain on September 24-26, 2006. After a thoroughly evaluation process by the program committee members assisted by external reviewers, a total of 20 papers from 9 different countries were selected to be included in the program. The papers selected to be included in the volume illustrate the state-of-the-art and current trends in the area of wireless sensor and actor networks. The program was organized into eight topics: 1. Actors 2. Applications 3. Security 4. Energy 5. Quality of Service 6. Localization 7. Middleware 8. Protocols We are grateful to Dan Steignart from the University of Berkeley for having accepted to deliver the opening tutorial, and Pedro Matron from the University of Bonn, Luis Redondo from MTP and Walter Stockwell from CrossBow for having accepted to participate in the panel session. We would like to thank all the members of the Technical VI Preface Program Committee and the additional referees. Without the support, the conference organization would not have been possible.
