Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Doctoral Thesis / Dissertation from the year 2023 in the subject Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, language: English, abstract: Over the recent few years, optical wireless communication (OWC) has attracted significant attention in both academia and the research community. Contrary to radio frequency (RF) systems, the spatial confinement of the optical beams makes the OWC system a potential system offering higher data rates and secured communication. OWC systems and applications in several areas, such as terrestrial outdoor (free-space optical (FSO) communication), indoor and outdoor visible light communication (VLC), etc. For the terrestrial outdoor FSO systems, spatial diversity techniques are employed over FSO links to enhance the diversity and overall performance. To this end, the spatial diversity techniques corresponding to the state-of-the-art are repetition coding (RC), transmit laser selection (TLS), and orthogonal space-time block codes. Note that, TLS is the optimal transmission scheme in the FSO systems. In this dissertation, we name the conventional TLS scheme as a single TLS (STLS) scheme. However, the performance of the conventional STLS scheme is highly dependent on the feedback errors. On the other side, the outdoor VLC finds applications in vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications, infrastructure-to-vehicle (I2V) communications, etc. Emphasizing the state-of-the-art corresponding to the outdoor V2V-VLC systems, there is a lack of comprehensive modeling and performance investigation under the adverse challenges of the outdoor VLC environment. Moreover, to address the challenges of the next-generation-based outdoor intelligent transportation systems (ITSs), an indoor testbed design for an outdoor I2V-VLC system is still missing. In order to enhance the diversity and overall performance of the terrestrial outdoor FSO systems, the study begins by proposing two novel TLS schemes. We call the proposed schemes as two TLS (TTLS) and modified error-tolerant weighting scheme (METWS). Note that, the conventional STLS scheme gives optimal performance under a perfect feedback scenario. However, its performance degrades significantly under an imperfect feedback scenario. To this end, the two proposed schemes overcome the practical limitations of the conventional STLS scheme. Moreover, we analyze the performance of the two proposed schemes for both perfect and imperfect channel state information (CSI)-based communication scenarios. Further, different performance metrics, such as bit error rate (BER), diversity gain, etc., are thoroughly analyzed. Furthermore, to gain more insight.

Zustand: Hervorragend. Zustand: Hervorragend | Sprache: Englisch | Produktart: Bücher | The use of optical free-space emissions to provide indoor wireless com- nications has been studied extensively since the pioneering work of Gfeller and Bapst in 1979 [1]. These studies have been invariably interdisciplinary - volving such far flung areas such as optics design¿ indoor propagation studies¿ electronics design¿ communications systems design amongothers. The focus of this text is on the design of communications systems for indoor wireless optical channels. Signalling techniques developed for wired fibre optic n- works are seldom efficient since they do not consider the bandwidth restricted nature of the wireless optical channel. Additionally¿ the elegant design meth- ologies developed for electrical channels are not directly applicable due to the amplitude constraints of the optical intensity channel. This text is devoted to presenting optical intensity signalling techniques which are spectrally efficient¿ i. e. ¿ techniques which exploit careful pulse design or spatial degrees of freedom to improve data rates on wireless optical channels. The material presented here is complementary to both the comprehensive work of Barry [2] and to the later book by Otte et al. [3] which focused prim- ily on the design of the optical and electronic sub-systems for indoor wireless optical links. The signalling studies performed in these works focused p- marily on the analysis of popular signalling techniques for optical intensity channels and on the use of conventional electrical modulation techniques with some minor modifications (e. g. ¿ the addition of a bias).

Zustand: Hervorragend. Zustand: Hervorragend | Sprache: Englisch | Produktart: Bücher | In 2017, the value of the global market for free space optical communication technology was $229.2 million and it is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 34% during the years 2018-2023. North America and Asia-Pacific are ranked successively the two major global markets. The high demand for fast, flexible wireless technology among all industries including reconnaissance, last and first mile connectivity, backhaul and internet of things are major drivers for the expected growth of free space optics. Moreover, security and high-speed wireless communication, as well as the emerging need for higher flexibility modules, are also key factors that enhance the growth of the global free space optics market. All of these factors are the major forces behind this book¿s investigation of the performance of FSO under severe conditions and environmental impairment, and how FSO systems can be integrated to enhance the next 5G networks revolution. This book provides an in-depth insight of free space optics already applied in military data security as well as in daily data exchange. This system offers several more advantages compared to other technologies such as low cost, mobility equipment¿s or security. Moreover, this technology has the potential of becoming an integral and indispensable part of data-processing architectures and telecommunications in the very near future. The book also provides a review of the history of wireless optical telecommunications, together with a synopsis of the application of the principles of electromagnetism in free-space optics. FSO Features and applications are also presented together with an overview of the potential challenges. The environmental impairment itself, which is the key challenge, is put under deep scrutiny. Special attention too is given to the possible mitigation solutions to overcome possible impairments.
