Blue cloth with pictorial onlay, titles stamped in gold, black-stamped decoration, botanical end-papers, copiously illustrated. Engravings by R.S. Bross, Chandler-Duran, E.J. Whitney, Tinkey, John Andrew, Felter, among others. Tips and spine ends worn or frayed, small stain to upper board illustration, back inner hinge cracking but binding seems tight, contents very good. Bookseller accession no.: 17695. Probably the second printing following the 1878 edition; uncommon.

Very light rubbing to corners and spine ends, good hinges, firm text block, small scuff from removal of an old price sticker inside front cover, half inch closed tear to outer edge of title page (no paper loss), pages lightly age-toned but clean, no names or other markings. . Hard Cover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
