Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - In his master thesis,Sven Painer develops, implements, and evaluates a method to reconstruct theliver surface from monocular mini-laparoscopic sequences. The principal focus ofhis research is to create a basis for helping clinicians to write reports withquantitative descriptions of the liver surface. A Structure from Motion approachis performed to do a sparse reconstruction of the liver surface and subsequentlythis information is used in a variation based dense 3D reconstruction. Thealgorithms are formulated in a causal way, enabling the implementation to be runin real-time on an adequate hardware platform. The results show a significantperformance increase and pave the way to give clinicians a feedback duringvideo capturing to improve the quality of the reconstruction in the nearfuture.

Buch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Studying the Indo-European languages means having a privileged viewpoint on diachronic language change, because of their relative wealth of documentation, which spans over more than three millennia with almost no interruption, and their cultural position that they have enjoyed in human history. The chapters in this volume investigate case-studies in several ancient Indo-European languages (Ancient Greek, Latin, Hittite, Luwian, Sanskrit, Avestan, Old Persian, Armenian, Albanian) through the lenses of contact, variation, and reconstruction, in an interdisciplinary and intradisciplinary way. This reveals at the same time the multiplicity and the unity of our discipline(s), both by showing what kind of results the adoption of modern theories on 'old' material can yield, and by underlining the centrality and complexity of the text in any research related to ancient languages.

Buch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - The task of reconstructing the reinforced demonstrative paradigm for early Nordic has been called 'impossible' by the eminent Einar Haugen. In The History of the Reinforced Demonstrative in Nordic, Eric T. Lander aims to accomplish exactly this, by way of an exhaustive study of the pronoun's attestations in the Viking Age runic inscriptions, which are the earliest forms of this item to be recorded in Scandinavia. The detailed picture of regional variation that emerges is then used to inform reconstructions of the paradigm from Proto-Nordic to Common Nordic. The book represents the first serious attempt in historical-comparative linguistics to grapple with the morphological development of the North-West Germanic reinforced demonstrative since the work of 19th-century scholars like Sophus Bugge.

[ISBN: 978-90-04-50885-9].The collected papers in this book address an array of important issues in the field of Historical Linguistics and, specifically, Indo-European Linguistics, including different theoretical approaches and innovative methodologies for studying language organization and change, building on the strict relationship between Linguistics and Philology. The papers provide significant contributions to the understanding of aspects of variation, contact and reconstruction, reflect a wide range of perspectives, and focus on issues and data from a large variety of languages. The themes that emerge from the papers center around two main research lines: 1. the relationship between language facts and historical accidents; 2. the relationship between grammatical categories and conceptual representations. The book is of interest for any reader seeking to gain insight into the nature of language organization and change. - Text in English. - - Publisher's retail price: 162.40.
