Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Over the course of the last 100 years, historic trends show there has been a clear and steady move towards the use of unmanned systems limited only by the technologies available to make the systems effective compared to manned systems. There is the potential that unmanned systems constitute a disruptive technology that may change the way wars are fought. An analysis of the current acquisition and technology development process and of the potential impact of unmanned systems on warfare shows that the U.S. should develop a more integrated approach for unmanned system development. The military's acquisition and technology development process consists of a top down approach, a bottom up approach, and the development of high risk, high pay off technologies. These are the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS), the Joint Urgent Operational Needs (JUON) process, and through initiatives by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). Though each of these fills a much needed role, there is little that is done to integrate these different processes. Unmanned systems are potentially a disruptive technology and may change how wars are fought. They may have an increasing impact on operational art and friction. Operational reach, tempo, sequencing, and matching ends and means may be profoundly affected. The qualitative nature of friction could also change. Additionally, many of the ways unmanned systems are different are due to value judgments that U.S. policy makers must make. There are other strategic considerations in how their use is interpreted by a global audience, what type of characteristics we will need in our future soldiers, airmen, and sailors, and how they will affect the overall likelihood of war or peace. There is the need to take four steps in order to mitigate risk and take full advantage of the potential of unmanned systems. First is the need to establish a strategic vision for unmanned systems. Next, we must continue to pursue.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - This book focuses on the principles and technology of environmental perception in unmanned systems. With the rapid development of a new generation of information technologies such as automatic control and information perception, a new generation of robots and unmanned systems will also take on new importance. This book first reviews the development of autonomous systems and subsequently introduces readers to the technical characteristics and main technologies of the sensor. Lastly, it addresses aspects including autonomous path planning, intelligent perception and autonomous control technology under uncertain conditions. For the first time, the book systematically introduces the core technology of autonomous system information perception.

Buch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - This book presents a collection of proceedings papers on unmanned systems, which provides a comprehensive view of the latest research and insights. The International Symposium on Unmanned Systems: AI, Design & Efficiency (ISUDEF 2024) is a gathering of researchers, scientists, engineers, practitioners, policymakers, and students working on topics in the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems industry and artificial intelligence (AI). The purpose of the symposium is to exchange information, present new technologies and developments, and discuss the future direction, strategies, and priorities in aviation and sustainability. The papers cover a broad range of current issues in aviation, including aerial, naval, and land applications, avionics, radar systems, AI design and platform integration, robotics, and autonomous systems that provide innovative solutions to the challenges facing the UAV industry, including civilian applications and homeland security.

Buch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Air Force war-fighting capabilities have a proud heritage of being born from the very best science and technology our Nation can create; indeed, the very history of the United States Air Force is closely intertwined with the development of advances in science and technology. Yet today, 'flattening' of the world is making it increasingly challenging for the U.S. to maintain technology superiority over potential adversaries. A growing number of nations soon will have the ability to transform science and technology advances into militarily significant capabilities. Over the next decades, we will increasingly face potential adversaries having peer or near-peer capabilities. This book examines the key areas of science and technology that the Air Force must focus on over the next two decades to enable technologically achievable capabilities that can provide it with the greatest U.S. Joint force effectiveness by 2030.
