A Typed Letter Signed from Madeleine L'Engle to an eager young fan, Bonnie, from Hyde Park, New York written four years after the publication of *A Wrinkle in Time*. It features three inked corrections. The letter, in four typed paragraphs (in 30 lines), includes interesting content about her books. L'Engle begins by thanking Bonnie for letting her know that she enjoyed reading *A Wrinkle in Time* and *The Arm of the Starfish*, "it pleases me very much." She goes on to say she's enclosing an author photo and answers to some of Bonnie's questions. L'Engle writes, "It's not easy in a short letter to tell you what gave me the 'inspiration' for these books. If you think about them, you'll probably see that I was writing about the things that did and still do interest me the most." It continues, "As for the characters well, I'm rather like Meg, myself, and I feel that I know all the other characters just as much as though they were my own family and friends." She concludes by saying "of course I'm writing a new book," signing it "Sincerely yours" and Signing her name in ink. A letter with fine literary content, discussing characters in L'Engle's books, including *A Wrinkle in Time*.
