First edition of this collection of two letters written by Kipling to Frank Nelson and Nelson Doubleday. Octavo, original publisher's half cloth over marbled boards. One of 950 copies. Fine in the original slipcase which is in near fine condition. English journalist, short-story writer, poet, and novelist Rudyard Kipling's major works include The Jungle Book (1894), Kim (1901) and many short stories and poems. Kipling was born in India, which inspired much of his work and his innovative stories for children have become timeless classics. Kipling was one of the most popular writers in the British Empire, in both prose and verse, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and was awarded the Nobel Prize in literature in 1907.

Housed in red slipcase which is scuffed and edgeworn/ A special Christmas token for friends and associates of the press, which underwent significant corporate shuffling of business names, imprints, etc. over a forty-year period. This little book was issued to introduce "A Kipling Pageant" to showcase .the sweep of Kipling's work. The first in the book is "Foreword To The Publisher" Being The Instructions to the Nakhoda,The Captain, of this ship 1935 In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful!".
