Takes a light hearted look at the local Indian wildlife, charmingly illustrated by Macrae and printed by the Dalziel brothers (famous for their engravings of the Alice in Wonderland books). Front seam has cracked (but not split) and all pages tight in binding. Edward Hamilton Aitken was a civil servant in India, better known for his humorist writings on natural history in India and as a founding member of the Bombay Natural History Society. He was well known to Anglo-Indians by the pen-name of Eha In a blue cloth binding with gilt lettering to the spine and front board. Externally, generally smart, lightly rubbed in places. There is some minor bumping to the top and tail of the spine. Spine is also faded. Internally, generally firmly bound, though front hinge is tender.
