Fantastic detective shorts, inventions such as the soul-analyser, truth-detector, and so on; one of the best in the series. Craig Kennedy stories get listed in Bleiler I supernatural checklist, and Reginald fantastic checklists, and of course he's listed in all the primary checklists of detective fiction. Craig Kennedy once was America's most popular detective in books, magazines, and silent films, and no US author sold better in the UK either. In WWI, Reeve was asked by the US government to create a scientific lab for use against spies. He made it the most advanced in any nation of his day. This surprising fact, atop his character's popular reception, inspired the first police labs such as are today taken for granted. Although not much read today, nor as highly esteemed as certain contemporaries, Reeve's position in criminous literature and early science fiction cannot be regarded as slight.
