Richards (1868-1928), the 1914 Nobel laureate in chemistry. The signed binding is characteristic of the French books Cooke obtained while in Europe buying chemicals and apparatus. A nearly fine copy. This treatise considers geometric methods applied to all types of practical measurement including levelling, surveying, the drawing of plot plans, taking elevations, perimeters, surface areas, and volumes.
