Martin (1887-1969) was a frequent contributor to Blackwood's and other magazines in the 1920s and 1930s as "Al Khanzir" (Arabic for Pig). He was a pig-sticker in Iraq (see the last item), with long service in India. In later years he was author of a regimental history, The History of the Fifteenth Scottish Division 1939-1945 (1948), and Sunset from the Main (Museum Press, 1951), a fascinating memoir of sport and life in the vanished Raj, which reprints many of these articles (marked above with *). With a presentation copy of the book, inscribed, "With the kindest regards of the author, High Martin". Original green cloth gilt.
