The average press run was approximately 45,000--few copies typically survived. This issue addressed in large part the National Geographic Society's television special program "The Incredible Machine", which was aired on the Public Broadcasting System by WQED/Pittsburgh on October 28, 1975. The Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, also known as AG Bell, is a resource, support network and advocate for listening, learning, talking and living independently with hearing loss. Through publications, advocacy, training, scholarships and financial aid, AG Bell promotes the use of spoken language as well as hearing technology for children with hearing loss. It is headquartered in Washington, D.C., with chapters located throughout the United States and a network of international affiliates. The Association also sponsors the AG Bell College Scholarship Awards Program. In 2010, 18 awards were granted ranging from $1,000 to $10,000. The Association was originally created as the American Association to Promote the Teaching of Speech to the Deaf (AAPTSD). It was renamed as the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf in 1956. In 1999 the Association was finally renamed to the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Man: The Incredible Machine is a 1975 American documentary film directed by Irwin Rosten and Ed Spiegel. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. E. G. Marshall narrated the film, which was produced by Rosten, together with Dennis B. Kane and Alex Pomansanof. Man: The Incredible Machine, which included some of the first pictures taken inside the human body and presented on film, using some of the earliest film that medical researchers had taken inside the human digestive tract and bloodstream. It ranked as the most-watched program in Public Broadcasting Service until 1982, when it was overtaken by The Sharks. Rosten's collaborator Nicholas Noxon described the "extraordinary impact" that the film had as a National Geographic special, noting that it was "groundbreaking for its time" and "opened people's eyes to what could be done with a documentary". The New York Times reviewer John J. O'Connor cited the film's ability to allow PBS to compete with the major networks, saying that "commercial television should now be reeling from the success of [the] National Geographic documentary", which garnered 36% of the total television audience in the New York City area when it was shown on WNET Channel 13. Rosten was criticized by some for using film that had been taken inside monkeys and rabbits. The New York Times noted criticism that viewers had been led to believe that the film was composed entirely of shots taken inside the human body, while nearly 5% was actually taken inside animals for details of the lungs, blood circulation and the reproductive system. Rosten had used film of human subjects wherever possible but that when "it was impossible to get inside the body we used film of mammals that would be exact representations of what we wanted to show". The National Geographic Society had been informed by Rosten that animal footage was included, but a disclaimer was not included in the film.

(4) pp. Burnley's Body Building Food, Burnley's Vita Rotary, Burnley's Satin Skin Cream, and Burnley's Hair Tonic, patented and manufactured by W.B. Burnley, F.S.D., and sold and demonstrated by Laura C. Burnley, M.D. and Dietitian, from her offices in the Homer Laughlin Bldg on So. Broadway in Los Angeles. The promotional asks, "why be overweight, underweight, old haggard and bald" when the Burnley method can easily correct all these things. A very good copy. In November 1920, both Burnleys were accused of violations of the state of California's medical practice act. Laura Burnley was found guilty in May 1921, charges against William Burnley were dismissed. Crime novel involving a diamond heist, an unrecognizable body in a tar burner, and armchair detective Dr. Lancelot Priestley's genius to link the two. Single sheet, folded in thirds. 32 cm. 6 pp. of text, testimonials, and advertisements for Four-Fold Liniment, "the leading liniment of the age." Printed on poor quality paper, old fold lines, seperated across the center fold, a few small holes, and one thumbnail sized hole at gutter of one fold (not affecting text). A tender copy. Text on each page enclosed in a border, with advertisement slogans printed around all sides: "Beware of Croupy Coughs, and Hoarseness in Children;" "Our Competitors Hate us, our Patrons Love us;" "Inhaling by Nostrils Relieves Nervous Headache;" [etc.] Text includes one full-page ad illustrated with the proprietor R. Matchett's "autograph" trademark, a beehive, which is on every label to ensure it is genuine. The liniment is recommended for both humans and animals, and is offered to agents and wholesalers at "fixed rates reasonable profits." The last page lists the diseases which it is designed to cure, the text printed in both English and German. The latest testimonial is dated 1890. Not found on OCLC.

The volume consists of the typescripts of over 50 interviews, biographies, articles and essays about such artists as Christo, Joseph Beuys, Robert Morris, Barnett Newman, Hanne Darboven, Robert Wilson and Valie Export. Writings include studies written by artists and theoreticians from Czechoslovakia as well as translations of artist interviews from magazines like Flash Art, Avalanche and Domus, translations of essays from different books, such as Lunatics, Lovers and Poets; The contemporary experimental theatre by Margaret Croyden, The Art of Time: Essays on the Avant-Garde by Michael Kirby and The Living Book of the Living Theatre by Carlo Silvestro and also essays of Allan Kaprow and Richard Schechner. Bond together with an original, vintage leaflet of the Tuesday program of the 6th Prague Jazz Days, that took place in May 1978. The Prague Jazz Days (praské jazzové dny) was held yearly between 1974 and 1982 as an important platform for progressive and underground music, theatre, dance and art movements. Extremely scarce publication. . Some pages yellowed due to acidic paper. Some pages slightly overtrimmed with no effect on the text. Spine slightly bumped at the tail, otherwise in fine condition.
