Lining book, previous has pasted new print illustrations. Some period repairs with news print. Staining, edge wear and numerous closed tears & creases make this a good candidate for extensive repair or as a donor for parts.

Small folio (28,5x22 cm). (inner margin restored, spine with recent fasteners; 2 small marginal pieces of corners frontcover missing). Together 5 unnumbered leaves, including the cover. (cover soiled, other leaves a bit soiled in places). Untearable - mounted on cloth. 6 full-page chromolithographs 'in the best style of colour printing' and 4 pages text, printed in brown, with 4 stories in rhyme: "The cross kitten", "The greedy kittens", "The merry kittens", "The frightened kittens". - Information about the author and the first edition (1864) found in the British Library. - In spite of the small imperfections a good copy of a childernbook, printed on linen. 200g.

Some pencil marks to some pages internally; at least one colour plate. Grubby margin marks. A reading copy. Packaged with care and promptly dispatched!
