In den WarenkorbHardcover. Zustand: g. Later printing. Quarto. XXXVIII, 826, XXII, [2], 786pp. Original cloth with silver lettering on spines and blind-stamped printer's device on front covers. Books housed in original publisher's slipcase. Frontispiece portrait of William James in each volume. Printer's device on each title page. Perry organizes and effectively analyzes the whole array of James' diverse writings (including reprints of some tremendous and now otherwise difficult to find selections), enabling any reader to obtain a comprehensive and detailed understanding of James' philosophy. At the same time, Perry infects his analysis with a solid and enduring illustration of James's personality, without ever becoming either trite or merely philosophical biography. The only date mentioned is on the copyright pages (1935), but these volumes appear to have been published at a much later date as a statement on the slipcase indicates that the author received the Pulitzer Prize for biography, which would have not occured until May 1936. Some rubbing and minor closed tears along edges of slipcase. Spines discolored/sunned. Slipcase in overall fair to good-, binding in good+, interior in very good to near fine condition.
