Joyce's volume covers stocks and the stock market, long division, logarithms, "vulgar" fractions, decimals, subtraction, compound interest and annuities, permutations and combinations, and exchanges. Illustrated with charts relevant to the different mathematical lessons. The volume is concerned with arithmetic relevant to economics and business practices, a pragmatic text with historical interest.
