Zustand: As New. Contents: Reminiscences and reflections/K.G. Subramanyan. 1. List of works reproduced. 2. K.G. Subramanyan: a biographical sketch/R. Siva Kumar. A sketch records something that happens between the artist and the object. Now closer to the artist now closer to the object but still hanging in the tension in between. Or the memory or recall of that tension. A composite of line scratches smears swabs and dots that recreates an object it learns its rhythm in the process. And becomes an object by itself. The artist sometimes keeps it to the essentials; at other times he dresses it up and makes it play a role. Set sail a narrative. And take one to new shores of experience. This uncovers new images. So this ceaseless doodling; the unravelling of what is then its reknitting into novel composites. K.G. Subramanyan is widely recognized as one of India's major modern artists an influential teacher an astute writer on art and an authority on the folk tribal and craft traditions of India. This volume of his sketches scribbles drawings spans the work of the last 30 years with the bulk of the material coming from the period between 1980 and the present. The selection has been put together by the artist himself with the aim of compiling a definitive collection. This volume includes his early sketches from 1968 the black and white drawings for his reverse paintings from 1980 his China Japan London and Oxford sketches drawings of nature and figure studies. It provides a rich variety of mediums and styles from works in crayon and water colour to pen and ink scribbles brush drawings notes doodles and working drawings. The volume opens with a thoughtful introduction by K.G. Subramanyan reflecting on the importance and purpose of such sketches and drawings for an artist and looking back on his experiences over a long and eminent career. There is also a substantial biographical sketch prepared by art historian and close associate R. Siva Kumar who has closely observed K.G. Subramanyan's ouevre over the years. 288 pp.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - His Joy, Her Way is a witty, warm, and wonderfully desi deep dive into the wild world of relationships where communication is both the glue and the grenade. This is not your typical self-help book with recycled clichés or preachy advice. It's a mirror held up to every couple who's ever fought over phone chargers, fridge space, or what 'I'm fine' really means. Set against the backdrop of modern Indian life-from WhatsApp wars to chai-fueled confessions-it captures the messy beauty of love, misunderstandings, mood swings, and makeup hugs. The book explores how men and women often speak in wildly different emotional dialects, even when using the same language. It's Mars meets Mumbai, Venus meets Vadodara. Each chapter brings real, raw stories that blend humor with heartache, from couples navigating the silence between words to those still decoding the emotional meaning behind 'Do what you want.' With a unique mix of storytelling, psychology, and good old-fashioned desi drama, it makes complex ideas like love languages and emotional validation relatable, funny, and oh-so-true. Think Gottman and Ghalib had a chai date and invited your nosy but lovable aunties to comment. That's the tone. Whether you're in a 25-year marriage or texting someone who takes two business days to reply, this book gets you. It knows that affection often shows up as shared pani puri, that 'I love you' might look like checking your tire pressure, and that sometimes the most romantic thing anyone can do is just listen-without trying to fix you. From passive-aggressive good mornings to dramatic goodnights, from the silent treatment to surprise hugs, His Joy, Her Way is an emotional rollercoaster that never lets go of its humor. It dives into why some couples thrive and others barely survive, all while keeping the tone relatable and the laughter alive. It's not about perfecting your partner; it's about understanding them. It's not about becoming someone else; it's about becoming someone better-for you and for them. If you've ever asked 'Why can't he just say it ' or 'Why is she still mad about that thing I said last Tuesday '-this book is your answer key. It's a celebration of messy emotions, misread emojis, and love that shows up even when words don't. No fluff, no fairy tales-just the delicious, dramatic, deeply Indian reality of how we connect, disconnect, and reconnect again. His Joy, Her Way is your must-read map for navigating the tangled roads of the heart-with humor as your co-pilot and honesty as your GPS.
