leather_bound. First edition. (IV), 29 pages in text, plus 16 pages of adverts for J. Taylor's Architectural Library. Thirty-three engraved plates many of which are gate-folds. This is one of Nicholson's most popular works. COLVIN p.594. "Nicholson was one of the leading intellects behind nineteenth-century building technology. He used his great ability as a mathematician to simplify many old formulae used by architectural draughtsmen as well as to devise new ones." His several works were very influential on the publications of the American architect, Asher Benjamin. Interior generally, some offsetting of plates to text. Tiny loss at bottom of title page. Contemporary gilt ruled sheep. Very good.
