Seventeen stories, all pre-dating the "Beau" trilogy (all of which were published in the 1920s); this collection was originally published in the U.K. in 1917 and 1918, but the presence of full-jacket-flap blurbs for "Beau Sabreur" and "Beau Geste" date this otherwise undated edition as 1927 -- its publication no doubt juiced by the appearance of the popular BEAU GESTE film version (starring Ronald Colman), released the previous year.
