Pictorial Cloth. Zustand: Good. No Jacket. S H (Binding design) (illustrator). First Edition. Blue cloth pictorially stamped in gilt and white, cover soil, rubbing to edges, joints and stamping, foxing throughout, heavier at beginning and end, previous owner's name on endpaper. A mysterious neighbor returns, but will not remove her veil. Size: 8vo.
Binding by Margaret Armstrong. (illustrator). Very Good (covers bright, a 1906 non-authorial ink presentation on a front blank page; about one-third of the pages have light damp-staining; few very tiny tears or minor nicks to edge of covers). A scarce copy in this binding! 8vo., brown limp-leather, stamped in gilt (top edge gilt, patterned satin endpapers); 393 pages First Edition. In a scarce brown limp-leather binding, stamped in gilt on front cover & spine, top edge gilt. Margaret Armstrong designed this binding, which is very similar to the binding on the first edition, issued in hardcover. This binding, while as cited by Armstrong, has the initials "SH" on the front cover. A scarce binding for this title, I have found no other. Armstrong designed most of Reed's book covers.
