Top corner of front free endpaper trimmed away, pencil doodle. Top corner of frontispiece also trimmed away. A little spotting and rusting on first and last few pages. One signature partially detached. A collection issues of the daily The Spectator from 14 June 1714 to its last issue on 20 December 1714.

Engraved frontispieces. With the armorial bookplates of Edward Huth of Wykehurst Park (son of merchant banker and prominent bibliophile Henry Huth) on the front pastedown endpapers. Spines uniformly darkened, light wear to corner tips and edges (with the exception of one volume that shows heavier wear to upper corner tips), one volume does not have tissue paper on the frontispiece. Overall, two extremely nice sets with a fascinating provenance. ; 16mo.

With the small bookplate of Gerard Paxon on front paste-downs. The engravings are by Charles Grignion after drawings by Francis Hayman. The Spectator appeared in two separate series, the first edited by Steele and published on weekdays from 1 March 1711 to 6 December 1712 (issues 1-555); the second edited by Addison and published thrice weekly from 18 June to 20 December 1714 (issues 556-635).
