The first edition of this charmingly illustrated work, consisting of twelve pictorial paper covered boards bound together, and illustrated in full colour. Collated, complete.Illustrated and written by Chloe Preston (1887-1969), a children's author and artist of books and postcards. She is best known for her cute, cherubic children in adult situations. The majority of Preston's works were published between 1910 and 1934, at which point she received a substantial inheritance and retired from public life.With the inscription of Madeline Elizabeth Bagnall, August 1928, to the front pastedown.Undated; dated c1915-1920.A delightful early twentieth century children's work. In the publisher's original cloth backed pictorial paper covered boards. Fading to back strip, with bumping to spine head and tail. Boards bright, with small losses and light rubbing to board perimeters. Inscription to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright, with handling marks throughout, and the odd instance of spotting. Very Good. book.

Red cloth backed color pictorial paper covered boards with light wear to the extremities and heavier wear to the lower board corners for a quite lovely copy of the book. Gift inscription on inside front cover. [24] pp. including covers. The pages of the book are mounted on stiff, thick board and contain children's verses which are illustrated throughout with wonderful, full color drawings by Preston. The condition of the book is VERY GOOD +. Only one copy located on OCLC/WorldCat (University of Florida) and that copy is incomplete and in poor condition. EXCEEDINGLY RARE.

Very nice, well preserved copy. Charming children's book, 57 nice stories, illustrated with in all 4 decorative page-frames and 65 illustrations: 20 full-page watercolour ill. of which 4 in colour (incl. frontispiece), 45 drawings of which 30 in one colour. Some illustrations are signed by its artist like ?Rosa C. Petherick", "Harry B. Neilson", "Louis Wain", "Ellam", etc. In the bottom left margin of the colour illustrations is printed "A.A.S.
