Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - This volume gives the proceedings of an international workshop on software engineering environments and public tool interfaces. The workshop drew together the recognized experts in these fields from Europe and America. The workshop examined the mechanisms necessary to support the software process and some formalisms for software modeling and considered which mechanisms and capabilities are feasible in the short term. Important here are the communication and coordination requirements of teams of people, especially information flow and access issues and the characterization of project and organization structure that interact with these. Some recent work on 'long' transactions is included here. There was discussion of how tools obtain access to services provided by other tools in the environment and how they communicate and exchange information. The workshop considered the trade-off between ease of interoperability and the modification of existing tools. Data typing and structuring models present a significant challenge. Included here is the experience of using actual models and an analysis of 'persistence'. The users of an environment may act in various roles and the needs of each type of user vary. Discussions centered on designs of environment mechanisms to support the user interface, including the issues of uniformity and performance.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware -This book presents original research on analytics and context awareness with regard to providing sophisticated learning services for all stakeholders in the eLearning context. It offers essential information on the definition, modeling, development and deployment of services for these stakeholders.Data analysis has long-since been a cornerstone of eLearning, supplying learners, teachers, researchers, managers and policymakers with valuable information on learning activities and design. With the rapid development of Internet technologies and sophisticated online learning environments, increasing volumes and varieties of data are being generated, and data analysis has moved on to more complex analysis techniques, such as educational data mining and learning analytics. Now powered by cloud technologies, online learning environments are capable of gathering and storing massive amounts of data in various formats, of tracking user-system and user-user interactions, and of delivering rich contextual information.Springer Verlag GmbH, Tiergartenstr. 17, 69121 Heidelberg 248 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - The idea for this workshop originated when I came across and read Martin Zelkowitz's book on Requirements for Software Engineering Environments (the proceedings of a small workshop held at the University of Maryland in 1986). Although stimulated by the book I was also disappointed in that it didn't adequately address two important questions - 'Whose requirements are these ' and 'Will the environment which meets all these requirements be usable by software engineers '. And thus was the decision made to organise this workshop which would explicitly address these two questions. As time went by setting things up, it became clear that our workshop would happen more than five years after the Maryland workshop and thus, at the same time as addressing the two questions above, this workshop would attempt to update the Zelkowitz approach. Hence the workshop acquired two halves, one dominated by discussion of what we already know about usability problems in software engineering and the other by discussion of existing solutions (technical and otherwise) to these problems. This scheme also provided a good format for bringing together those in the HeI community concerned with the human factors of software engineering and those building tools to solve acknowledged, but rarely understood problems.
