Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Software Engineering is a multifaceted and expanding topic. It aims to provide theories, methods and tools to tackle the complexity of software systems, from development to maintenance. Its complexity is made even more severe today by rapidadvancesin technology, the pervasivenessofsoftwareinallareasofsociety, and the globalization of software development. The continuous expansion of the eld presents the problem of how to keep up for practitioners. For educators, the key questions are how should software engineers be educated and what are the core topics and key technologies Even looking only at the last decade, the tremendous changes that have taken place in the software engineering industry, and in the industrial world in general, raise many questions. What are the e ects of: Outsourcing Distributed softwaredevelopment Opensource Standardization Softwarepatents Mod- driven development How should these developments change the way we teach softwareengineering Shouldtextbooksbeupdated Shouldsoftwareengineering play a di erent role in the computer science curriculum, for example, be more pervasive How are instructors in universities handling these issues All these issues were discussed at the Software Education and Training s- sions at the International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE 2005) by leading researchers, educators, and practitioners in software engineering, who presented their-sometimes controversial-views and insights on software en- neering education in the new millennium. In this volume we have collected some of the most representative and innovative approachesthat were presented at the workshop. The authors revised their papers based on discussions at the conf- ence and the comments they received from the reviews.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - This volume contains the proceedings of the 1988 SEI Conference on Software Engineering Education. The Software Engineering Institute (SEI) is a United States government-funded research and development center operated by Carnegie Mellon University. Its principal responsibility is to accelerate the reduction to practice of modern software engineering techniques and methods. An annual activity of the SEI is the SEI Conference on Software Engineering Education. The purpose of the conference is to promote enhanced software engineering education in the academic, industrial, and government educational communities, and to promote interactions among educators in these three communities. The 1988 conference included refereed papers, panel discussions, reports and demonstrations from the SEI. Special emphasis was placed on master's degree level software engineering curricula, the content of software engineering courses, and the introduction of software engineering into undergraduate computer science curricula. The proceedings contain fifteen refereed papers, the keynote address, and a report on curriculum recommendations from the SEI. This volume is particularly useful to software engineering and computer science educators in both the academic and industrial communities.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - This volume combines the proceedings of the 1987 SEI Conference on Software Engineering Education, held in Monroeville, Pennsylvania on April 30 and May 1, 1987, with the set of papers that formed the basis for that conference. The conference was sponsored by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) of Carnegie-Mellon University. SEI is a federally-funded research and development center established by the United States Department of Defense to improve the state of software technology. The Education Division of SEI is charged with improving the state of software engineering education. This is the third volume on software engineering education to be pub lished by Springer-Verlag. The first (Software Engineering Education: Needs and Objectives, edited by Tony Wasserman and Peter Freeman) was published in 1976. That volume documented a workshop in which educa tors and industrialists explored needs and objectives in software engineering education. The second volume (Software Engineering Education: The Educational Needs of the Software Community, edited by Norm Gibbs and Richard Fairley) was published in 1986. The 1986 volume contained the proceedings of a limited attendance workshop held at SEI and sponsored by SEI and Wang Institute. In contrast to the 1986 Workshop, which was limited in attendance to 35 participants, the 1987 Conference attracted approximately 180 participants.
