Erstausgabe
First Edition. First Printing. Octavo. 21.5cm. Publisher's black cloth titled and decorated in red and purple gilt. Dustjacket. 184pp. Very light wear to the cloth, predominantly shallow bumping to the spine ends, a bright, clean copy in a dustjacket that has seen some use, with creasing and small closed tears to the upper edge of the front panel, chipping to the spine ends and some light soiling to the white rear panel. There's tape residue from some unnecessary reinforcement attempts, but it is essentially a very good copy with some shelfwear. A groundbreaking work at the time of publication, and an exapnsion of the authors' earlier theories on teaching as a radical mechanism for change, rather than a reinforcement and continuation of the status quo.

A book of strategies for students from 15-25 "who want to change without violence, who want to turn the high schools and colleges around without destroying either society or themselves.A central assumption of this book is that you can't change things if you refuse to accept the realities of the system in which you're operating, or refuse to deal with them. And you can't stage a successful revolution without allies others in the world of education who want the curricula, the policies and the power structure to be truly democratic" (from the flap text). 82055.
