First published in 1915 by the same publisher.Illustrated with 192 monochrome photographic plates by the Fratelli Alinari photographic firm. Fratelli Alinari is one of the world's oldest photographic firms, with the original founder being joined by his brothers to establish 'Fratelli Alinari Fotografi Editori', which focussed on photographing Italian monuments, sculptures, paintings and architecture. Collated complete.This work was put together and written by Arduino Colasanti, an Italian Renaissance scholar and the general director of the Department of Antiquity and Fine Arts in Rome. This collection of photography depicts a range of beautiful and intricate ceilings and vaults, showcasing the beauty in Italian architecture.In the publisher's original cloth. Attractive later printing (first published 1915) of this in-depth photograph study of historic Italian vaults and ceilings from the late medieval and early Renaissance period, organized by city. Small ownership inkstamp on front pastedown of Chicago architect Edward W. Rupinski, who also signs the title page.
