Together approximately 40 items, including Hutton's business card, 9 postcards of ships and hotels, 2 passenger lists and 8 menus for the Red Star Line S.S. Pennland and Cunard Line RMS Samaria, 7 sundry bills from hotels and businesses used by Hutton, miscellaneous pieces of stationery including hotel envelopes, flyers and brochures; all window mounted on separate leaves with a typed commentary and contained in a modern ring binder. Henry Charles Hutton ran a printers plate-making business, and the present archive records a trip he made in January and February 1937 to the United States, probably for business. He sailed from Antwerp on the Red Star Line S.S. Pennland to New York, where he stayed at Park Central Hotel. He then sailed aboard an Eastern Steamship Line ship to Boston, and stayed at the Hotel Statler there. A letter in the collection advises him of his return from New York aboard the Cunard Line RMS Samaria, and his collection of menus and shipboard bills for wine and laundry fill the second half of the album.
