Die Arbeit untersucht, ob eine neuartige Methode der assistierten Reproduktion - der sogenannte 'Single Embryo Transfer' - mit dem Embryonenschutzgesetz in Einklang zu bringen ist. Dabei werden sechs Eizellen befruchtet und nur der 'beste' Embryo in die Gebärmutter transferiert. Die rechtliche Zulässigkeit des 'Single Embryo Transfer' wird unter Juristen in Deutschland kontrovers diskutiert. Nach rechtlicher Analyse der derzeitigen Gesetzeslage durch die Autorin wird die Anwendbarkeit des 'Single Embryo Transfer' abgelehnt und eine Gesetzesreform des Embryonenschutzgesetzes vorgeschlagen.
