Zustand: Very good condition. Signed etching in the lower margin and in the plate, by the master print maker, Scottish artist David Young Cameron. The dramatic landscape is likely in Scotland, depicting massive dark rock formations set in a broad valley. Perhaps the Firth of Lorne, as a distant rock formation resembles this famous estuary. Cameron was highly skilled at capturing stillness and mood, the atmosphere of a specific place. Cameron's (1865- 1945) subjects included landscapes and architectural studies, of which he produced a number of popular 'sets' ("The Clyde Set", "The North Holland Set" and "The North Italian Set"). He produced relatively small editions of his prints, highly sought after by collectors. In 1929 one such work sold for the record breaking sum of L640, equivalent to around £36,000 today. 14 x 9 1/2", paper 15 x 11". Slight even toning, with residue of masking tape at verso of top edge.
