This influential American theatrical figure produced and managed at the old and new Lyceum Theatres in New York from 1886 to 1909; he made the transition to motion pictures in the teens, producing dozens of early silent films together with Adolph Zukor at Famous Players Film Company. Thick, bold "July 5 / Dan'l Frohman / Lyceum Theatre / N.Y." in black ink on a buff heavy stock 5½" 5¼" preprinted "penny postcard." Very good. Addressed in his hand on the postage side (cancelled 1934) to Arnold F. Gates (1914-93, noted Lincoln/Civil War scholar).
