A scarce publication by Quaker, traveling minister, feminist and abolitionist Lucretia Mott (1793-1880). Mott, a devout Quaker, attended the first Convention of the American Anti-Slavery Society in 1833 and was the first chosen president of the Philadelphia Female Anti-Slavery Society. Her then-radical view points of interracial commingling were met with great opposition, even from the Society of Friends. This work, delivered to medical students at University of Pennsylvania, Franklin Medical College and Jefferson Medical College, argued with religious fervency that physicians must oppose slavery and the mistreatment of people of color. …
