Previously owned by F. T. Colby with bookplate to front pastedown, also with an ink inscription directed to 'The Rev. C Rev. J. G. Joyce; Sir John Maclean; Arthur Jewers; Rev. William Ince; Philip Massinger; Shrewsbury School and Various Publishers include: Bristol - Jefferies and Sons; Oxford - E. Baxter; Oxford and London - James Parker and Co; London - Longman, Brown, Green and Longmans. These are various extracts bound in one volume from different publishers, some with no publication details. Some pamphlets include extracts in Latin and Greek. The pamphlets are as follows according to handwritten title: 1. Joyce on Fairford Windows 2. Will of Tho. Wandsworth Maclean. 3. English Bicknor 4. Parting Words. Ince 4. Parting Councils 5. Inaugural Lecture 6. Shrewsbury Prize Exercises Also with an eight page extract from 'A Brief Account of the Brasses' inserted between 'English Bicknor' and 'Parting Words' and an extract of six pages from 'The Bondman' by Philip Massinger inserted between 'Inaugural Lecture' and 'Shrewsbury Prize Exercises'. In further detail the included extracts are, in order: Remarks Upon the Fairford Windows by the Rev. J. G. Joyce, F.S.A. Rector of Stratsfieldsaye. Read in Fairford Church, 30th August, 1877 before the Bristol and Gloucestershire Arachaeological Society and Reprinted from the Transactions of the Society. With a table listing the details of the windows and an 'In Memoriam' notice on Joyce to rear. II. - The Last Will and Testaments of Thomas Wandsworth, last Prior of Bodmin, with a prefatory notice. - By Sir John Maclean, F.S.A., Hon. Member of the Royal Institution of Cornwall, &c. Read May 11th 1877 - Reprinted from No, XIX Journal Royal Institution of Cornwall. With an ink inscription to top of first page. This is followed by a fold-out genealogical table of the 'Family of Syrall, Alias Worrall, alis Wyrhale, of Bicknor Court in the County of Gloucester' and Remarks on the Manor, Advoson, and Demense Lands, of English Bicknor, Co. Gloucester by Sir John Maclean of Bicknor Court, F.S.A., Member of the Royal Archaelogical Institute of Great Britain and Ireland, Honorary Member of the Royal Institution of Cornwall, &c., &c. with amendments to two names to page 73 and a further table 'Pedigree, showing the Devolution of the Manor of Bicknor English, from the Reign of Henry III to Charles I' between pages 88/89 and an appendix to rear. Sub-Rector, Tutor and Catechist; now Regius Professor of Divinity and Canon of Christ Church. With an ink dedication from author to owner 'Frederic T. Colby, from William Ince' to title. Parting Councels. A Sermon Preached to the College Servants in Exeter College Chapel, on Whitsunday, June 9, 1878 by the Rev. William Ince, D.D. Twenty-one years Sub-Rector of Divinity and Canon of Christ Church. With 'F. T. Colby' inscribed to title in ink. The Past History and Present Duties of the Faculty of Theology in Oxford. Two Inaugural Lectures Read in The Divinity School, Oxford, in Michelmas Term, 1878 by William Ince, D.D.
