First Edition. in contemporary black straight-grained roan, spine simply ruled in gilt. 12mo (167 x 97 mm), pp. 132, 36, with decorative rules and occasional vignettes, a couple of dog-eared edges and corner torn from intitial blank, some browning of the paper and several stains, title-page a little foxed, A scarce survival of a provincial hymn book, prepared for the use of parishioners at Sheffield parish church by the Vicar of Sheffield, Thomas Sutton. This makes only the third known copy of this first appearance of the text, and possibly only the second complete copy. A second edition was published in 1816. WorldCat lists copies at Leeds (as ours) and BL (calling for pp. 132 and therefore apparently missing the final Anthem section).
