This title has a dedication from Sandford to Edward Copleston, the Dean of Chester and Provost of Oriel College, Oxford. The short "Advertisement to the Second Edition" notes: "In the present Edition, many of the more difficult Examples in the Exercises have been removed or simplified, and a few additional remarks on the niceties of Greek Syntax have been introduced. Rules for the structure of Elegiac verse, together with some improvements and corrections, have likewise been incorporated with the Prosody." Sandford died of Typhus one day after his fortieth birthday.
